Modified zeolite-supported biofilm in service of pesticide biodegradation

چکیده

The development of biofilms on modified natural zeolites was investigated with purpose to obtain biocomposites biodegradation activity towards pesticides MCPA (2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid) and glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine) for potential application in bioaugmentation polluted agricultural soils. Microbial communities were selected from pesticide-contaminated soil/water samples enriched the basis their ability biodegrade pesticides. In order enhance affinity microbial support material, mineral zeolite by nontoxic environmentally friendly cations (Li+, Na+, K+, NH4+, H+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Fe3+) methods preserving its structure characterised using powder XRD, surface area measurement chemical composition analysis. Kinetics pesticide degradation studied liquid media. Results showed that according modifications, biodiversity changed. best rate reached 0.12–0.13 mg/h half-life 16–18 h, which is considerably quicker than observed environment. However, some cases, lost connected unfavourable modification accumulation toxic metabolites. High-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA genes biofilm highlighted selection bacteria genera known metabolise (Aminobacter, Cupriavidus, Novosphingobium, Pseudomonas, Rhodococcus, Sphingobium Sphingopyxis) (Pseudomonas). Altogether, results suggested do not only have a passive role but also protective nutrient-supportive functions consequently increase degraders growing influence rate.

Biosorption of Cr (VI) using a bacterial biofilm supported on granular activated carbon and on zeolite.

Two mini-columns partially filled with granular activated carbon (GAC) and/or a natural zeolite, covered by a bacterial biofilm of Arthrobacter viscosus, were used in a continuous flow system to remove Cr (VI) from solutions with initial concentration of 70mg/l and a working pH ranging between 4.5 and 5.5. Three different set-up's were used: two columns in series filled GAC covered with a biofi...

Biodegradation of PP films modified with organic pro-degradant: natural ageing and biodegradation in soil in respirometric test

In this study, PP films were modified with an organic pro-degradant in different concentrations (1, 2 and 3 wt.%), exposed in the first step of degradation to natural ageing for 100 days followed by biodegradation in simulated soil in the respirometric test for 100 days. At the end of the combined degradation process the PP samples were characterized according to their morphological and physica...

Biodegradation and Analytical Methods for Detection of Organophosphorous Pesticide: Chlorpyrifos

Chlorpyrifos is a broad spectrum moderately toxic organophosphorous insecticide. It is widely used in agriculture for pest control and in households as a termicide. However, exposure to chlorpyrifos and its metabolites can affect the public health resulting from its long residual periods in soil and water. Thus, there is an essential need to develop sensitive method for the detection of chlorpy...

Removal of Ni(II) from aqueous solutions by an Arthrobacter viscosus biofilm supported on zeolite: from laboratory to pilot scale.

This study discusses the retention of Ni(II) by Arthrobacter viscosus supported on zeolite 13 X in batch mode and in continuous mode, at laboratory scale and at pilot scale. The maximum adsorption capacities of 28.37, 20.21 and 11.13 mg/g were recorded for lab scale batch, for continuous lab scale minicolumns and for pilot scale bioreactors, respectively. The Sips isotherm and pseudo second ord...

Biodegradation and Utilization of Organophosphorus Pesticide Malathion by Cyanobacteria

Three strains of filamentous Cyanobacteria were used to study their growth and utilization of organophosphorus pesticide malathion. A sharp decrease in the growth of the algal strains was observed by increasing the concentration of malathion. Amongst them Nostoc muscorum tolerated different concentrations and was recorded as the highest efficient strain for biodegradation (91%) of this compound...
